Qld detective in court over speeding fraud

A Queensland detective has faced court for allegedly giving a false reason for speeding in a police vehicle and falsifying a document to request an exemption for speeding.

Helen Elizabeth Godfrey was served with a notice to appear in court by the state's corruption watchdog.

The 39-year-old detective senior constable appeared in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday charged with one count each of fraud and fraudulent falsification of records.

The Crime and Corruption Commission will allege Godfrey gave a false reason for speeding in a police vehicle and then submitted a false document requesting exemption for the speeding offence.

The alleged offences occurred last year.

Godfrey is on bail with her matter to be mentioned in the same court on September 8.
