A woman has been charged with attempted murder in Brisbane after she allegedly drove at a cyclist, who jumped a fence to get away.

The 42-year-old rider was travelling on Wirraway Pde in Inala, southwest Brisbane, at 4.30am on Saturday when a four-wheel drive allegedly hit his rear wheel.

He stopped before the woman allegedly drove toward him, forcing him to jump the front fence of a house for safety.

Police believe the driver then crashed into four fences before she ran over the man's bike as it lay on the footpath.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with a leg injury and later released.

It's understood he does not know the driver.

The 45-year-old Durack woman has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and dangerous driving, and five charges of wilful damage.

She is due to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday.
