Qld COVID-breach trio to plead guilty

Haja Timbo and two other women are expected to plead guilty over COVID-19 border rule breaches. (AAP)

Three women accused of lying on border declaration forms to avoid quarantine after travelling to Victoria are expected to plead guilty.

Diana Lasu, 21, Olivia Winnie Muranga, 20, and Haja Umu Timbo, 21, have each been charged with one count of making false or misleading documents and one of fraud.

Their matters were mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Wednesday and all set down for pleas.

Two of the women tested positive for COVID-19 after the three travelled to the hotspot.

The pair spent days in the community while infectious, shutting down schools and shopping centres. A sister of one of the women also tested positive.

Authorities believed a man contracted the virus when he ate at a Sunnybank restaurant, also attended by one woman two days after her arrival in Brisbane.

His wife - who worked in a nursing home - later also tested positive.

The three are accused of deliberately misleading authorities - by saying they had not been in a COVID-19 hotspot in the previous 14 days - when they arrived at Brisbane Airport from Melbourne after a brief stopover in Sydney on July 21.

They were also charged with fraud for allegedly dishonestly gaining a benefit by avoiding the mandatory 14-day quarantine which is billed to each person isolating.

The women are on bail on their own undertaking.

Lasu and Timbo are expected to appear in court for a plea on March 26.

Muranga is listed for a plea on April 15.
