A Queensland police officer accused of helping sneak his daughter across the NSW border while on duty has faced court for the first time.
Senior Constable Robert Eickenloff from the Road Policing Command allegedly helped his 20-year-old daughter cross the border at Tweed Heads-Coolangatta in September.
He was present as the matter was briefly mentioned in Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday, where he was released on bail and the matter adjourned until November 29.
Police have previously alleged his daughter did not have an exemption to enter Queensland after arriving in Tweed Heads following a stint south of the border.
Her 55-year-old father than allegedly helped her cross into the state, but police at a checkpoint became suspicious and launched an investigation.
The woman was fined $4135 for entering Queensland in breach of health orders and is now in 14-day hotel quarantine.
Queensland Police Acting Chief Superintendent Rhys Wildman has previously said the allegations were "extremely disappointing" but the detection of alleged illegal crossings shows border operations are rigorous.
"Just because somebody gets across the border doesn't necessarily mean that they get a free ride," he told ABC radio in September.
Sen Const Eickenloff was charged with misconduct in relation to public office and stood down over the incident.
