Qld coach faces child exploitation charges

Police allegedly found gigabytes of child exploitation material in a Queensland sport coach's home. (AAP)

A Gold Coast sports coach is facing multiple charges after police allegedly found several hundred gigabytes of child exploitation material.

Officers believe the 21-year-old Coomera man was a volunteer for a number of organisations but haven't found any evidence he physically offended against a child.

The organisations have been contacted and are working to identify the extent of his involvement with children.

"Children must know that nothing is so serious or embarrassing that they can't approach a trusted adult for support and to report behaviour that makes them feel uncomfortable," Detective Inspector Glen Donaldson said.

The man allegedly used a number of secure messaging platforms to share images.

He was arrested on Tuesday after "being located coaching a local children's sporting team on the Gold Coast", police said.

Several devices were seized following a search of the man's home.

He was released on bail and will face Beenleigh Magistrates Court on June 30.
