Mum-and-dad home owners are set to strike 2032 Brisbane Olympic gold, turning spare rooms into Games success because of a major hotel shortage.
And they could be sharing their homes with Olympic athletes.
Short-term rentals have been backed to fill visitor demand and share the Olympic tourism boom after it was revealed barely a quarter of the hotel rooms required for the 2032 Games were on track to be delivered.
Athletes and officials could be among those booking an Airbnb for a place to stay.
Airbnb was an official partner of the Australian Olympic Committee and an "important part of our accommodation mix'', a spokesperson said.
"We regularly use Airbnb at Games time to supplement our accommodation requirements for athletes and officials to ensure they are near their competition venues,'' the AOC spokesperson said.
