QB Josh Rosen logs his best day as a Dolphin as pads come on

New Miami Dolphins quarterback Josh Rosen unanimously collected his first “win” of the 2019 training camp battle with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick yesterday. Rosen was reportedly many of the same things Fitzpatrick has been ever since stepping on to the practice field — a strong communicator, effective with his reads and on point with his throws.

Ryan Fitzpatrick, on the other hand? His worst practice to date as a member of the Miami Dolphins. This should come as no surprise. Remember, Fitzpatrick has notoriously bounced around the NFL from team to team, struggling to find his full-time footing as a starter. Why? Because of consistency issues. And when the wheels do fall off the Fitzmagic train, they really fall off.

This isn’t to say that Fitzpatrick has now lost himself the QB competition. Far from it. But it is worth nothing that the momentum Fitzpatrick has carried throughout the entire offseason is stymied now by his own sloppy errors and Josh Rosen’s progressively better play. Who can be the more consistent player? This is, ultimately, the critical factor in who ends up starting at quarterback for the Miami Dolphins.

The Dolphins will take the field once again today for their fourth straight day of practice before being off tomorrow.
