QB Deshaun Watson returns to Texans training camp in pads

Quarterback Deshaun Watson returned to Houston Texans training camp practice Monday.

It was the first time since Aug. 2 the three-time Pro Bowler was available to practice at Houston Methodist Training Center. Watson was also decked out in pads for the first time in training camp.

Watson had missed the past week dealing with a calf and ankle injury.

Of course, it was a continuation of the same surreal practice regimen for the former 2017 first-round pick from Clemson. Watson worked with the quarterbacks, but didn’t seem to be a bigger part of the team’s plans for the offense.

Watson’s trade request from late January has not been rescinded. The 25-year-old still intends to play for another team as soon as this season.

Watson is also embroiled in pending litigation involving 22 women who are suing him for alleged sexual assault.

Coach David Culley told reporters on Aug. 6 after practice “nothing has changed” with regards to Watson’s status with the team.
