QB David Fales wraps up visit with Vikings, no contract signed

The search for Vikings’ quarterback depth continues.

On Friday, quarterback David Fales visited the Vikings. He left without a deal.

Fales, a 2014 sixth-round pick, has spent time with the Bears in 2014 and 2016. Last season, he was a member of the Dolphins. He appeared in two games, throwing for 265 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.

The Vikings find themselves in the market for a backup quarterback with Trevor Siemian signing with the Jets. The only other quarterback besides Kirk Cousins on the roster is Kyle Sloter. Sloter said earlier this offseason that he believes he’s ready to be an NFL backup, but he hasn’t taken a single NFL snap.

If Fales were to sign with the Vikings, he’d likely compete with Sloter for the backup spot.

The Vikings have also been linked to Sean Mannion, who visited the team last week.

There have also been reports that the Vikings will work out former AAF quarterback Brandon Silvers.
