QB Aaron Rodgers misses Sunday’s practice, Packers staying cautious with back injury

Despite coach Matt LaFleur’s confidence that Aaron Rodgers wouldn’t miss practice after missing Thursday night’s preseason game in Baltimore with back tightness, the Green Bay Packers quarterback still isn’t participating at Sunday’s afternoon practice at Ray Nitschke Field.

According to Ryan Wood of PackersNews.com, the team is continuing to exercise caution as Rodgers recovers from an injury he originally suffered on Wednesday.

LaFleur said Friday that Rodgers’ participation at practice would be dependent on “how he feels.”

Rodgers was expected to play a quarter’s worth of action against the Ravens, but the Packers sat him out for precautionary reasons. Backup DeShone Kizer, who started the preseason opener against the Houston Texans, started again in place of Rodgers.

LaFleur will likely provide an update on Rodgers’ condition following Sunday’s practice.

The Packers will travel to Winnipeg to play the Oakland Raiders on Thursday night. It’s unclear if Rodgers will be cleared to participate. It could be his last chance to get reps during the preseason, but the Packers would prefer he’s 100 percent healthy for Week 1, even if it means he doesn’t play a single snap before Sept. 5.
