Qatar Airways to resume flights from Birmingham Airport

Qatar Airways will resume flights from Birmingham Airport later this summer after a three-year hiatus. The airline will run daily flights from July between Birmingham and the country's capital Doha, using a Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

Qatar Airways, which is also headquartered in Doha, operated from Birmingham Airport prior to the covid-19 pandemic but it ceased flights in early 2020.

Airport chief executive Nick Barton said: "We are very pleased to welcome back Qatar Airways. Connectivity from Birmingham Airport to the Middle East and onwards via its large network is something our customers have missed.

"Birmingham Airport is the global gateway to the West Midlands region, an economic powerhouse on a strong trajectory of growth which will be further buoyed by the presence of Qatar Airways."

Eric Odone, vice-president of European sales with Qatar Airways, added: "Qatar Airways is pleased to announce the resumption of flights to Birmingham Airport, further establishing our presence and partnership with the United Kingdom.

"The United Kingdom is a very important market to the airline, naturally through the leisure travel market, which we experienced during the 2022 FIFA World Cup but also thanks to the strong connections with the commercial, technological and industrial industries.

"We look forward to offering passengers access to the more than 150 destinations that we fly to around the world via Hamad International Airport."
