Q awards 2013: attempts at rock-chic on the red carpet
A polo neck under a suit? Robbie Williams is just one Tory vote and a portion-controlled diet away from becoming Gary BarlowPhotograph: Dave J Hogan/Getty ImagesIt's sometimes a struggle for bands to find a look that works 20 years on, but a combination of blazers, DMs, elbow patches and dark jeans (we'll turn a blind eye to the polo neck, just this once) means Suede are quite literally looking better than ever Photograph: Brian Rasic/REXOn the other hand, Tim Burgess of the Charlatans flicks a sartorial V at the concept of growing up gracefully and opts for a Nirvana sweatshirt. Poor Ellie Goulding. All dressed up in a lovely, super-on-trend polka dot dress and Chrissie Hynde pops up looking like Adam Ant took a romp through the Marks & Spencers womenswear department. And then they were both upstaged by the unfortunate positioning of Hynde's award Photograph: REX/Brian Rasic/REX/Brian RasicAfter years of stars struggling to know what to do with their hands while on the red carpet, Tinie Tempah has discovered the Golden Fleece of poses. As for the outfit, we'll forgive the unforgiveable (deeeeeeep V T-shirts on men must stop) because any man who wears leopard-print shoes gets the firm nod from usPhotograph: Richard Young/REXA thumbs up for Pixie Lott, because what else is being 22 about if it's not wearing three trends at once (crop top, frilling and checks) and no coat of a night out?
