Derry city centre is full of unique, independent restaurants and cafes.
Local support has meant that these spots have been booming in the past number of years.
And Pyke n Pommes is no exception. Beginning in a simple food truck, it developed into what is known as 'the pod': a double decker bus parked alongside the city riverfront.
It's continually grown and expanded and now has the pod alongside a large city centre restaurant.
To anyone looking for places to enjoy a bite to eat in Derry, Pyke n Pommes is always on the recommendation list, and it is no secret why.
Pyke n Pommes serves up a range of burgers and tacos, including the aptly named Legenderry Burger made with a Wagyu beef patty, and its Veggie equivalent, the Vegenderry.
Their menu also contains chicken and fish burgers and tacos, providing a range of choices for all tastes.
Their squid tacos are of Derry legend status.
On my visit to the pod, I got one masa chicken taco and one porter brisket taco. The option to mix and match tacos is an ideal choice for people wanting to experience a range of items, and for those who can't make up their mind.
Having tried the burgers before and thoroughly enjoyed them, I decided it was time to give their tacos a try. And they were exceptional.
The flavours in each taco were incredible. They were completely different yet complimented each other well.
I ordered a side of fries which were, like the rest of the items, extremely fresh and flavourful. My entire meal was faultless.
The staff at Pyke n Pommes, both at the pod and in the restaurant, are extremely pleasant and proud of their establishment. They take joy in seeing happy customers.
Pyke n Pommes should be on recommendation lists for all visitors to Derry. It's a prime example of how a local business can grow and flourish and continue to get bigger and better.
I'm already looking forward to my return.
