HYDERABAD: The Supreme Court has recommended names of seven advocates, including NV Shravan Kumar, the grandson of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao to the central government for elevation as judges of the Telangana high court, along with five district judges.

They will be sworn in as HC judges after notification by the central government.

The apex court recommended the names of advocates NV Shravan Kumar, K Surender, Chada Vijaya Bhaskar Reddy, Surepalli Nanda, Mummineni Sudheer Kumar, Juvvadi Srideviand Mirza Safiulla Baig from the bar.

N V Shravan Kumar happens to be the son of Narasimha Rao's eldest daughter Sarada Devi. When Shravan Kumar got married in March 1996 at Imperial Gardens in Secunderabad, PV as PM received all the guests and was present throughout. Shravan, who maintained a low profile and never wore these family tags said his grandfather is his main inspiration.

"Society gives us so many things. We have to repay it. I observed this philosophy in my grandfather during his long political career. In fact, he was the health minister of the state when I had born in 1967," Shravan Kumar told TOI. "I will strive to fulfill that principle of paying back to society, Shravan added.

K Surender will be the second person to become a judge after representing CBI in the high court in the recent past after P Keshava Rao, who was the first to do so.
