Puzzlers left baffled by 'trippy' stormy beach at night optical illusion

A number of people have been left scratching their heads over a fascinatingly confusing optical illusion, that at first glance appears to show a stormy beach at night.

Most people can see a sandy beach, with waves breaking dramatically at the shoreline, all set against a darkened, thunderous-looking sky. It even looks as though it's been painted with masterful brushstrokes, creating a brooding, atmospheric scene.

Of course, as with any illusion, not all is as it seems, however, and puzzle fans just couldn't believe it when they realised what the 'trippy' picture actually shows.

The picture was shared on Twitter, by a user named Muhammad, and the poetic-sounding caption reads, “If you can see a beach, ocean, sky, rocks, and stars then you are an artist".

Muhammad, who goes by the Twitter username @nxyxm, then went on to reveal what exactly the clever illusion shows, explaining, "it's not a painting it's the lower part of the car gate which needs to be repaired."

He added: "It's a car door, the seal panel under it is damaged, the bend in the door gives the illusion of beach, the seal panel is damaged and scratched which gives the illusion of water on the edge of beach."

Many people were left stunned by this revelation, having believed they were looking at the work of a skilled painter, while Muhammad advised that you could indeed see the car gate if you focus your attention on the dark side.

One person gasped: "Am I trippin'? Because I really see the beach."

Another commented: "I'm sorry but I can't see any car gate. I put the pic in a thousand ways and I still see a beach, sky, stars, and whatever."

A third wrote: "It really looked like a beach with a storm but I see the car door now."
