Putting the brakes on Portugal's rural exodus

For a long time a land of emigration, Portugal has become increasingly attractive in the past few years. While this trend is most visible in coastal areas, Portugal's inland countryside still carries the stigma of decades of rural exodus: ageing demographics and scarce job opportunities. Anaïs Guérard and Sarah Morris report.

A programme prepared by Patrick Lovett and Gaëlle Essoo.
