Putting priority for world No.3 Minjee Lee

Australian golfer Minjee Lee has no doubt where she can improve.

Lee is ranked world No.3 after a stunning 2022 that included winning the US Open, her eighth victory on the LPGA Tour.

She pocketed $US3,809,960, putting her second on the money list, and was ranked seventh in scoring average; sixth for greens in regulation.

But one statistic sticks out: Lee was ranked 103rd in putting average over the last LPGA season.

"My big goal is probably my putting and my pitching this year because that is where I can improve the most," Lee said on Friday.

"I have spent a lot more time doing short game than ball striking and working on my swing, so hopefully that shows. I have been working hard on that.

"But other than that, I haven't been doing anything too different. I had a lot of time off, just relaxing at home as well."

The 26-year-old has spent the past five weeks mainly in her home city of Perth and took a month off from golf after last year's Australian Open.

Lee's fresh season will start at the Honda Thailand tournament in late February as a tune-up for the HSBC Women's World Championship in Singapore from March 2-5.

The championship will feature 18 of the world's top 20, including the top five - Lydia Ko, Nelly Korda, Lee, Atthaya Thitikul and defending champion Jin Young Ko.

Lee has again set her sights on the majors in a year-long schedule featuring about 20 tournaments.

"For me, it's all around the majors," Lee said.

"I am just going to do my best and try and contend in all of them, a lot of the focus is around that.

"The world ranking is always in the back of my mind but with good play, that will follow."
