Russia's President Vladimir Putin has addressed the recent reaction to the US-Russia talks regarding the war in Ukraine, referring to it as 'hysteria.' Concerns have been raised that the negotiations may result in significant concessions to Russia at Ukraine's expense.
Notably, the summit in Saudi Arabia where the talks took place did not include representatives from Kyiv or other European powers.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has accused US President Donald Trump of spreading misinformation by falsely claiming that Ukraine initiated the conflict with Russia.
In response to these accusations, Putin emphasized that he has not rejected the possibility of talks involving Europe or Kyiv. He questioned the need for the 'inappropriate' hysteria surrounding the discussions.
Putin revealed that Trump had assured him Ukraine would be involved in the negotiation process, a statement that Trump had also made publicly. According to Putin, the US is committed to including both Russia and Ukraine in the talks.
Putin reiterated that Ukraine is not being excluded from the negotiation process and emphasized that there is no justification for the negative reaction to the Russian-American meeting.
