'Put this right' - Oxford United striker sends teammates message ahead of Bolton Wanderers clash

Sam Baldock wants Oxford United to bounce back against Bolton Wanderers this weekend and put their defeat to Accrington Stanley firmly behind them.

The U's host Wanderers this weekend at the Kassam Stadium and Ian Evatt's men can do the double over Karl Robinson's side, having beaten them 2-1 at the University of Bolton Stadium back in August at the start of this campaign.

Oxford are in the play-off places at present and Wanderers will be seeking to close the gap between them and the top six, which currently stands at 11 points.

Robinson's side will be seeking to bounce back from their midweek loss at the hands of Stanley with a 2-0 loss.

New U's striker Baldock joined the club last week after departing Derby County mid-way through January.

Despite his relatively short time at the Kassam Stadium so far, Baldock believes there is cause for optimism at the U's and the squad that Robinson has at his disposal.

And he wants the U's to put right against Wanderers what happened in midweek versus Stanley and bounce back to winning ways.

Speaking to the Oxford Mail, he said: “Everything I’ve seen from the boys so far has been fantastic, they’re a really welcoming group of lads and really easy to get on with.

“The reaction at Portsmouth was fantastic so hopefully we can do it again, because the best teams have shown they can bounce back quickly and not dwell on a defeat.

“At this time it’s not necessarily about a strong squad, it’s about a strong mentality within the squad.

“We’ve got to bounce back quickly and put this right on Saturday.”
