'Put him upfront with Kane!' - Tottenham fans make demand to Jose Mourinho for Leicester game

Jose Mourinho has named his Tottenham team to take on Leicester City at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon.

Following wins over Arsenal and Newcastle United in the past week, a third straight victory for Spurs will leave them in a good position to try and seal a Europa League spot on the final weekend of the season.

However, it won't be so straightforward as the Foxes also need the points themselves in their bid to clinch a top-four finish and secure Champions League football for next term.

Registering a 3-1 win at St James' Park on Wednesday evening, Mourinho has named an unchanged side for the home fixture against Brendan Rodgers' side.

Premier League match preview: Tottenham v Leicester

That means Jan Vertonghen starts on the bench in what could be his final ever appearance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Signed from Ajax in the summer of 2012, the Belgian international has been a regular in the team since his move but he's struggled for regular match action this term due to his form.

Penning a short-term extension to remain at the club beyond the end of June, Vertonghen will depart on a free transfer after next Sunday's final game against Crystal Palace unless he's offered new terms.

As the 33-year-old is on the bench for today's game against the Foxes, Spurs supporters on Twitter have called on Mourinho to give the player some minutes in the game so that he can bid a fond farewell to N17.

Here's what supporters have had to say about Mourinho's selection.

Speaking ahead of the game, Mourinho said he wasn't thinking about the fact that the Lilywhites can make it four wins on the bounce on home soil.

"I didn't know but more important than that is the points that we need," he said.

"A little bit like when we played Arsenal, it was very important to win the derby or when we played Newcastle and my first victory at St James' Park.

"Nothing else is important now, the only thing that matters is the points that we need.

"So I don't even think about the first time we can make four victories in a row at the new stadium. I just think that we need these points."
