Pussycat Dolls' 'raunchy' X Factor performance could be investigated after 419 complaints

The Pussycat Dolls performed for the first time in a decade over the weekend - and it didn't go unnoticed.

Nicole Scherzinger joined Kimberly Wyatt, Ashley Roberts, Jessica Sutta and Carmit Bachar for the band's performance on X Factor Celebrity on Saturday night.

And whilst fans of the five-piece were floored by the performance for the right reasons, others slammed the routine as 'inappropriate' and a 'trashy strip show'.

Broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has since received 419 complaints about their barely-there costumes and 'raunchy' dance moves and ITV could be investigated.

An Ofcom spokesperson told the M.E.N: "We are assessing the complaints against our broadcasting rules, but are yet to decide whether or not to investigate."

Fuming viewers took to social media to express their disgust at the pre-watershed routine on Saturday.

"The outfits the #pussycatdolls are wearing on #XFactorCelebrity are totally inappropriate for 8.15pm on a family show. Not good role models for girls. You don't have to take your clothes to be successful," one said.

Another hit out: "I wouldn't want kids watching this...Looks like a trashy strip show! Gees there's a time + place for it! How sad that these women feel the need to dress like that when they know kids watch the show. Grim."

A parent fumed: "I had to cover the eyes of my 6 year old daughter when they appeared with these horrendous and provocative dresses on the screen. Shame on you pussy cat dolls."

"The outfits the #pussycatdolls are wearing on #XFactorCelebrity are totally inappropriate for 8.15pm on a family show. Not good role models for girls. You don't have to take your clothes to be successful," another raged.

The multi-platinum girl band and dance troupe announced their comeback on Thursday and announced a string of tour dates.

The Don't Cha singers will play Manchester Arena during their nine-date tour in April next year.
