Pussycat Dolls hit by lip-sync claims after embarrassing One Show blunder

Pussycat Dolls have been hit by claims of lip-syncing after a performance of their new single on The One Show went spectacularly awry.

The pop group, who reunited in late 2019, were introduced by presenters Alex Jones and Matt Baker, before the backing track of their song “React” began playing.

But despite frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger’s vocals being heard, the group remained static at the back of the stage and facing away from the audience for almost 30 seconds.

Some members of the group could be seen sharing concerned glances at one another, indicating that they could not hear the song.

After half a minute of awkwardness, Jones and Baker once again introduced the group, allowing the performance to go on as normal – with Scherzinger noticeably singing over the top of a separate pre-recorded track.

The technical fault was subsequently mocked on Twitter, with one viewer asking: “Did someone start the recording without telling the Pussycat Dolls to start miming?”

The group themselves appeared to shrug off the error, tweeting: “THANK YOU @BBCTheOneShow!!! We just performed #REACT and had the best time!!” – alongside an abbreviated clip of the performance itself.

Pussycat Dolls announced their reunion in November 2019, with the group returning to the studio to record a new album, ahead of a global tour in 2020.
