The Pussycat Dolls have blasted 'sexy-shaming' critics who disliked their raunchy X Factor performance.
The pop group, made up of Nicole Scherzinger, Ashley Roberts, Kimberly Wyatt, Carmit Bachar and Jessica Sutta, came under fire in November last year after they performed a super sexy routine on the family show.
419 outraged viewers complained to OfCom after being left unimpressed by the female groups clothing and dance moves.
After being quizzed on being 'sexy-shamed' during a group interview, Kimberly told Glamour magazine: "Sometimes the media don’t get it and they want their click bait. But the audience gets it, they understand the power of it. Sometimes the power of a woman scares some people."
Lead singer Nicole added: "You don’t see us floundering around out there, you see us killing ourselves. We are killing it and empowering others whilst we do it."
"We should be able to choose when we want to be sexy," Ashley added "We as women need to build a space where no matter your quirkiness, your curves or whatever you have got you can come to us and feel accepted."
The PCD's comeback act on The X Factor, in which they wore risque black outfits and confidently danced in front of a live audience, featured hits such as Buttons, Don’t Cha and When I Grow Up, as well as their new single, React.
Viewers of the show fumed about the girls outfits and apparently raunchy dancing on Twitter at the time.
“The outfits the #pussycatdolls are wearing on #XFactorCelebrity are totally inappropriate for 8.15pm on a family show. Not good role models for girls. You don't have to take your clothes to be successful," one user said.
"I had to cover the eyes of my 6 year old daughter when they appeared with these horrendous and provocative dresses on the screen. Shame on you Pussycat Dolls," an angry parent quipped.
The Pussycat Dolls were originally a burlesque troupe in Los Angeles before finding mainstream fame.
The band has made a comeback after last performing together as a group ten years ago.
