AJMER: The internationally renowned holy town of Pushkar will soon have no electric poles. Work on a project to rid the town of electric poles in order to reduce chances of accidents and to add to its beauty is in progress.
District collector Anshdeep on Saturday inspected the ongoing work being undertaken as part of a state government project and asked the officials of AVVNL to ensure its completion within a month. The collector visited areas from Gurudwara to Badri Ghat and Barah Ghat to Atmeteshwar temple where electric wiring is being laid underground.
“Pushkar town will soon have no electric poles,” said Anshdeep. He also directed the officials to repair the electric wires hanging on the electric poles in the main market.
Pushkaris are already preparing for the international cattle fair that will be held in October. Few tourists attended the fair in the last two years, but this time there is hope that the tourist inflow will be normal.
