Push organic farming & tech use to boost farm income: Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath

LUCKNOW: Reiterating his government’s promise of doubling the income of farmers, chief minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday said there is need to focus on organic farming besides improving transport and storage facilities for agricultural produce.

During a review of the ‘Self-reliant Farmer Integrated Development Scheme’, the CM said officials should ensure that the target for setting up farmer produce organisations (FPOs) in each development block are met.

The establishment of more cold storages and use of technology in agriculture would also boost income from agriculture, he said. The CM also reviewed the UP Slum Rehabilitation (draft) Policy-2021 and said the government is committed to ensure ease of living to slum dwellers by ensuring basic facilities and sanitation for them.

The CM directed officials to determine a specific definition of the word ‘slum’ and then link beneficiaries to the government’s schemes. He said that the definition of family for a slum dweller should also be reworked so that a successful model of slum rehabilitation is set up.
