'Pure West Ham!' - Jonathan Calleri's hat-trick vs Wolves has Hammers fans cursing their luck

It has not been a season to remember for West Ham United so far.

The Hammers are struggling in the Premier League, sitting in the bottom three in the Premier League with 11 games to play, after sacking Manuel Pellegrini in December and replacing him with David Moyes.

One problem for the Hammers has been a lack of goals from the strike force, with club record signing Sebastien Haller netting just six goals since his arrival from Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer.

But one former West Ham striker has had a night to remember, with Jonathan Calleri scoring a hat-trick in the Europa League against Wolves.

Liverpool 3-2 West Ham: Full David Moyes press conference

The Argentine striker, who joined the Hammers on a season-long loan in 2016, helped Espanyol to a 3-2 win in the second leg of the last 32 tie, although Wolves still progressed to the last 16 after a 4-0 win in the first leg, going through 6-3 on aggregate.

But Calleri's performance has got Hammers fans talking and cursing their luck, with West Ham struggling at the moment.

Here's what they have been saying on social media.

Calleri did not have a successful spell on loan at West Ham, scoring just one goal in 19 appearances in all competitions.

He has since had loan spells with Spanish sides Las Palmas and Alaves, before joining Espanyol at the beginning of this season on loan.

Prior to the game this evening, Calleri had only scored two goals for Espanyol.
