The latest Ask the Devs has arrived with the Pure Pool Pro team answering some of the most common questions sent in over the past few weeks.
Pure Pool Pro will fully support both gamepads and mouse and keyboard. The controls are being built to feel natural no matter what you prefer and the team itself is split pretty evenly between both setups. The upcoming Closed Beta will also include players using both control schemes to make sure everything feels just right.
As for the beta itself, it’ll be limited to Steam. Some console players were hoping to get in early but running a beta across multiple platforms just isn’t doable for a smaller studio without slowing things down. Focusing on Steam helps the team stay on track and get the full game out sooner.
If you played the original Pure Pool and liked the way it handled, you’ll feel right at home. The same thumbstick-based shot mechanic is returning, complete with spin control and the ability to fine-tune aim before setting power. It’s all about keeping that smooth, satisfying feel.
There are a few new touches being added, though the core of the game stays true to the original. One small but welcome addition is the ability to change your chalk color—a little detail that adds to cue customization and helps make your shots feel more personal. While you won’t see over-the-top new mechanics or arcade-style features, the updates are all about tightening up the realism and adding a bit more style.
The game will feature more visual detail than ever before with a fully overhauled interface and the TetraDome, a futuristic 1,000-seat venue that reimagines what the sport could look like on the biggest stage. With improved AI, a deep Tour mode and a progression system that rewards customization and long-term play, Pure Pool Pro looks to deliver the most immersive and polished pool experience the series has seen
No exact release date just yet, but Pure Pool Pro is expected to launch later this year. The team is focused on getting everything polished before locking anything in. For those waiting to see it all in motion, a gameplay trailer is scheduled to arrive very soon.
