'Pure entertainment' - Arsenal fans send Edu transfer message after what Allan Saint-Maximin did

Arsenal supporters have expressed their desire for the club to sign Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

The 24-year-old has just under five years remaining on his contract with the Magpies, who are in no rush to sell as things stand, and for the most part, he has not been strongly linked with a move away from Tyneside.

However, after seeing what Saint-Maximin did for Newcastle against Leeds United on Friday evening in their Premier League clash, that could yet change.

The French winger picked the ball up on the left-hand side and ran in on his right foot, carried the ball for a while, before sliding the ball into the bottom left-hand corner, leaving Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier with no chance.

Now, some Gunners supporters have taken to Twitter to express their desire for the club to sign Saint-Maximin.

Gary Neville, who was on Sky Sports punditry duty for the clash at St. James' Park, issued his verdict on the goal from the Newcastle star.

"Saint-Maximin [is] absolutely amazing, he is just brilliant, he is everything you want in a football player, he takes people on, he is direct," Neville said at half-time of the match.

"I have to say the atmosphere of the first 15 minutes has gone, it has been electric in here in the last 20-25 minutes. He has deserved his goal."

Saint-Maximin's time in the Premier League has been so good that he has earned plenty of big-name admirers - including Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, who called the Frenchman a "proper footballer".

Klopp said in April this year: “Mr Saint-Maximin is a proper footballer, he was injured and that was a blow but along with Joelinton they play really well together."
