Puppy stolen from RSPCA shelter by burglar wearing a clown mask in 'traumatic' ordeal

A four month old puppy was stolen by man wearing a clown mask in an ordeal the RSPCA have called "traumatic".

Cashew, a tiny staffy, was abruptly taken in the early hours of the morning by the imposing figure.

She had just had surgery and still needed medication, leaving staff at the Brisbrane branch worried, 9news reports.

In CCTV footage of the theft, the man was seen forcing his way into the Animal Care Campus, on Saturday, March 19 at around 2am, using an angle grinder to break into a metal cage.

He was then seen leaving the centre with Cashew in his arms.

RSPCA Queensland spokesperson Emma Lagoon confirmed the puppy had been veterinary checked and did require medical attention.

"We are absolutely thrilled that Cashew has been brought back into care and cannot thank the Police and members of the public enough for their concern and help in getting Cashew back to the RSPCA," she said.

"After her traumatic ordeal we're happy to say she'll be able to finally go home with her new adopter very soon."

Police continue to investigate the incident after Cashew was rescued, and will work to locate the man in the clown mask.

This comes after Fashion retailer PrettyLittleThing has launched its global search for one dog to be the face of their new PLT Pet Collection.

The winning dog will be invited to PrettyLittleThing's Manchester HQ as the brand's ecommerce dog model to launch the range.

As well as receiving a Pets At Home voucher to cash in on doggy pampering and goodies, the champion canine will win a £500 PLT voucher to treat their owner.

To enter the competition, you just need to share some cute content of your pet on TikTok or Twitter, using the hashtag #PLTpet.

You must be following @prettylittlething to be in with the chance of winning. The winner will be announced on March 28.

The PLT Pet Collection will see a entire range dedicated to fashionable animals and their owners.
