Puppy found 'beaten to death and dumped' in Edinburgh owner's hot tub after break-in

A puppy was reportedly beaten to death and dumped in a hot tub in Edinburgh .

The dog's horrified owners allegedly found their 11-month-old pet underneath the lid of their hot tub at their property on Robertson Avenue, Prestonpans at around 6pm Sunday.

It is believed someone broke into the garden, which has a 6ft fence around it, and killed the defenceless puppy before hiding it's body.

The owners began searching for the missing pup, before making the grim discovery.

An appeal for information was issued on community Facebook group Cockenzie and Port Seton People.

It read: "Some scum has broken into a garden, killed an 11-month-old puppy, and dumped the body in the owners hot tub.

"If anyone knows anything about this, please report it. It's a barbaric and despicable thing to do. Raging!"

Another said: "My poor neighbour has just knocked my door... have I seen anything suspicious today.

"They lost 11-month-old puppy- just found him in the hot tub in the garden, the lid was on. He had been beaten and dumped in the tub.

"They have 6-foot fence and gate locked from the backside. Horrible people about."

A Police Spokesperson We received a report around 5.50pm on Sunday 1 October that a dog had been found dead in a hot tub on Robertson Avenue. Waiting on results of post mortem to establish if there's any criminality.
