Pupils told to self-isolate after case of Covid-19 at Nottingham primary school

A school in Nottingham has asked a small number of pupils to isolate after a positive case of Covid-19 was confirmed.

Forest Fields Primary and Nursery School in New Basford, like all schools, is still open for some pupils.

A spokesman for Nottingham City Council which runs the school said one case of Covid-19 had been confirmed within the school's community.

As a result, within the small number of pupils still attending, a year 4 bubble is now isolating until February 2.

It was announced on January 4 that primary and secondary schools as well as further education providers would only be able to stay open to vulnerable students and those with parents who are key workers.

The decision was made due to rising infection rates across the country and new strains of coronavirus being detected.

Since then, there have been reports that the number of children still attending schools in Nottinghamshire is 'much higher' than in the first lockdown.
