Pupils told to isolate after members of staff test positive for Covid-19 at Nottingham school

Pupils at a Nottingham school have been told to self-isolate after two members of staff tested positive for Covid-19.

The positive tests have come from staff members at Oak Field School and Specialist Sports College in Wigman Road, Bilborough.

Pupils and staff in two classes are now being told to isolate for 10 days until January 15 or 16, depending on which class they attended.

Anyone else with symptoms is being urged to take a Covid-19 test.

A message from the school, which caters for people aged 3-19 with additional needs, reads: "Class 4 and Class 6F3 at Oak Field School are temporarily closed as a result of two members of staff testing positive for Covid-19.

"Pupils and staff in these classes should now self isolate at home for 10 days until Friday 15th January (6F3) and Saturday 16th January (Class 4).

"We have taken this decision in line with government guidance. If pupils feel unwell with Covid-19 symptoms, we would urge parents to obtain a test for them.

"We will continue to work closely with Public Health England, the DfE, Nottingham City Council and the Nottingham Schools Trust."

Schools across the country were recently shut by the Government for all pupils apart from vulnerable children and those whose parents are key workers.

However, some schools and colleges were open on Monday, January 4 before this decision was made.
