There has been another coronavirus outbreak at a Leeds school as pupils have been sent home and will have to self-isolate for 14 days.
Woodkirk Academy, in Tingley, have confirmed that an individual had tested positive on this past Monday.
It has not known whether the person who tested positive for Covid-19 is a member of staff or a student at the school, but it has been confirmed that it has affected the Year 11 group.
Those individuals will not return to school for two weeks.
Joanne Barton, principal of Woodkirk Academy said: "We received confirmation of a positive case affecting Year 11 on Monday afternoon.
"We immediately took advice from the Department for Education, and took appropriate and swift action to identify everyone who had had significant contact with the case.
"Those affected have been asked to stay at home and self-isolate in line with national guidance.
"The health, safety and wellbeing of our whole school community is our main priority and we have robust procedures and measures in place to support this.
"Thank you to students, staff and parents for their ongoing support with this."
Woodkirk Academy has 1,800 pupils, more than 300 sixth form students, and more than 250 members of staff.
The government had Schools in England have been told to keep children in class or year-sized “bubbles” and avoid creating “busy corridors” when all pupils returned.
Government guidance says older pupils should be encouraged to be kept away from other groups of students and staff.
The whole school, or all pupils in a year group, may have to self-isolate at home if schools have two or more confirmed coronavirus cases within a fortnight, the advice says.
But the guidance insists school closures “may not be necessary” if there are a number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 on site if schools implement the recommended controls.
