Pupils send message to community by competing for Kiss Bigotry Goodbye cup

Lanarkshire pupils got together before the holidays for a football festival with a message – with pupils from an Airdrie school finishing as runners-up.

The event at Hamilton’s Palace Grounds was hosted by Police Scotland and anti-sectarian charity Nil by Mouth.

Pupils took part in the tournament then listened to a talk about the destructive social impact that sectarianism has on society.

Police Scotland welcomed the chance to bring young people from all communities together in a safe and welcoming environment, using sport to promote tolerance and inclusion.

The event was supported by the Hamilton branch of Sainsbury’s, who provided refreshments on the day.

After a close tournament Our Lady’s High from Motherwell lifted the Kiss Bigotry Goodbye Cup, with Airdrie’s Caldervale High gaining second place.
