Pupils self-isolating after Leeds school hit with two coronavirus cases

The council has confirmed another Leeds school has been hit by coronavirus.

Two cases have been confirmed in Year 12 at Lawnswood School, Leeds City Council said.

Jo Bell, headteacher of the school in Otley Road, Weetwood, said they are now following “robust” procedures they have in place and they have identified everyone who had had contact with the two cases.

Those that have had significant contact with the infected people have been asked to self-isolate and stay home.

They said: “We have two confirmed cases of Covid-19 in school. Following the robust procedures that we have in place, we quickly identified everyone who had had significant contact with the cases and those affected have been asked to stay at home and self-isolate. The parents and carers of the students affected have been contacted.

“The safety and wellbeing of our whole school community continues to be our main priority and we have safety procedures and risk assessments in place to help limit the spread of the virus. We are grateful to students and parents/carers for their ongoing support.”
