Pupils in East Kilbride got a taste of the Far East when a Taiko drummer visited their school.
Primary six and seven at Greenhills have been learning about Japan for a class topic.
And they were very lucky to be visited by the professional drummer who taught them how to play the Taiko drums, as well as more about the culture and history of the war drums in Japan.
Although extremely noisy, the children thoroughly enjoyed their experience and, by the end of the lesson, were very enthusiastic about playing the drums.
The drums could be heard throughout the school and as it was maths week, the pupils were encouraged to relate their learning back to numbers.

P7 pupil, Chloe, highlighted the importance of counting when playing the drums, "counting is used all the time while playing to help keep the beat", she said.
While fellow pupil, Callum, said: "Drumming is about patterns and sequences and learning to put these together."
Class teacher, Mrs Hampson, who arranged the visit, said: “Learning about other cultures in a very practical way gives the children greater understanding of how people from other countries and cultures live their lives.
"The children were very focused and picked up the skills very quickly.”
