Pupils at two North Lanarkshire primary schools learning in bright new spaces following investment

Pupils at two primary schools in North Lanarkshire are now learning in new brighter classrooms following investment of almost £800,000 by the council.

More than £500,000 has been spent to improve the learning environment at Christ the King Primary in Holytown with the installation of two new additional modular classrooms.

And at St Barbara’s Primary in Muirhead, four classrooms have been completely refurbished and new washroom facilities installed at a cost of around £270,000.

Pupils and staff at both schools have welcomed the significant investment which has created bright, new, welcoming teaching spaces.

At Christ the King the addition of the modular classrooms provides more space and better facilities for both students and teachers.

The spacious classrooms cover over 60 square meters and also include well-equipped washroom facilities.

Councillor Angela Campbell, Convener of Education, Children and Families, “The new classroom spaces at both schools will help to address capacity issues and allow teachers to create engaging lessons tailored to the needs of their students.

“The new facilities are a clear example of our commitment to providing an enriched learning environment for all pupils.”

Parent councils, elected members, and school staff at both schools have all welcomed the news about the investments in their schools.

In addition to the new classrooms at the school in Holytown it has been confirmed that a replacement trim trail will be installed in the playground over the summer, ready for everyone to enjoy in the upcoming school term.
