Pupils and staff at St Mary’s Primary in Polbeth are celebrating after successfully achieving their fourth Green Flag Award.
Assessors praised the work carried out recently despite the challenges and interruptions brought by the pandemic, and said it had been a pleasure to assess the application.
The assessor added: “Your chosen topics of Litter, Global Citizenship and Food and the Environment were all covered really well together with the many other actions that you committed to under other topics, which shows very strongly how keen you are on looking after our planet as an Eco- School and to helping us all to achieve the Global Goal of Climate Action.
“You have fulfilled all seven elements of the Eco-Schools programme, with a very committed and resilient Eco- Committee that managed to adapt to the restrictions brought by the pandemic and to continue inspiring everyone throughout this journey.
“I thought your new Eco-Code was lovely and I was pleased to see how it was a whole school challenge.
“You have a great approach at using your actions as an opportunity for learning, and an excellent practice of involving the wider community in your work, enriching your journey even more.
“We know this has been a particularly complex period due to the pandemic, so a very big ‘well done’ to everyone for these achievements and for keeping up with the Eco-Schools spirit.”
