PUP recipients warned of final October payment if recent application deadline was missed

Those in Ireland who remain on the Pandemic Unemployment Payment have been warned that some will see their payments come to a close this week if one specific action was not taken.

October 26 will mark the final date of payment for anyone who failed to respond to the Revenue’s request to switch them over to the Job Seeker’s payment.

In line with the government’s Economic Recovery Plan, the PUP has been gradually changing over since September and will continue to do so over the next 6 months.

From September 2021 until February 2022 deductions are being made to ensure that at the latter date, everyone still in receipt of the PUP will be receiving the same amount as those on the standard jobseeker’s payment.

The process of moving from the lower €203 rate of PUP to a jobseeker’s payment was due to begin in early September, however it was deferred until all sectors started to reopen in line with the Roadmap announced on August 31.

All those affected will continue to receive the PUP payment until October 26 when the process of their transition to a Jobseeker’s payment will begin.

The department wrote to all relevant customers to outline the details of the transition from PUP and the options that will be available to them.

They were asked to respond by identifying the option most suitable to them and those wishing to apply for a Jobseeker’s payment were asked to do so by Friday, October 15.

If no application was received from any customer, their final payment of PUP will be made on October 26.

Two further phases of rate changes are due to take place from November 16, 2021, and February 8, 2022.

As each band of PUP recipients reaches the €203 rate in each phase, they will be transitioned to standard jobseeker terms.

If you are still in need of the support scheme, make sure to respond before the allotted due date in order to avoid any breaks in payment.
