Punters are sticking with the PGA Tour old guard with the Masters kicking off on Thursday with the vast majority of bets being placed on favourites Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler.
The first major of the year got underway on Thursday afternoon and Paddy Power has revealed that most bets are being placed on PGA Tour players.
There are some 18 LIV golf players teeing it up this week including Open Champion Cam Smith and the in-form Brooks Koepka.
And Paddy Power has offered 5/1 odds of a LIV golfer winning the green jacket but the price is much shorter of 1/12 for a PGA Tour member to win outright.
The Irish bookmaker has also said that 86 percent of the money placed has been on PGA Tour members with just 14 percent of punters backing LIV golfers.
Cam Smith is the most popular pick and is priced at 25/1 while Dustin Johnson has the shortest odds at 22/1.
Rachael Kane, Paddy Power spokesperson said, “It appears punters are sticking with the devil they know – players from the PGA Tour. The LIV Tour’s aim was to win golf’s popularity contest, but if the betting is anything to go by, they’re about as popular with punters as they are with Rory McIlroy, who is 6/1 to complete a career Grand Slam and win his first green jacket come Easter Sunday.”
