Punters injected with confidence at Peterborough United’s League One title chances after signing Bristol City striker

Striker Mo Eisa may have played just six games for Bristol City without finding the back of the net in 2018/19 but there are plenty of people out there who think he could be the missing part of the puzzle for Peterborough United.

The Posh unveiled Eisa on Saturday for a club record fee in excess of £1.25m to add to the signing of: Mark Beevers (Bolton, undisclosed), Serhat Tasdemir (AFC Fylde, undisclosed), Frazer Blake-Tracy (King’s Lynn, undisclosed), Christy Pym (Exeter, free) and Dan Butler (Newport, free).

Before Eisa signed for the club Peterborough were 16/1 to win the League One title this season, just four days later they have improved to 12/1, making them fifth favourites behind Sunderland, Ipswich Town, Portsmouth and Rotherham United.

The Black Cats and Pompey both missed out on promotion to the Championship after losing in the play-offs last season while the Tractor Boys and the Millers have dropped down from the second tier.

Eisa built his reputation with a standout season in 2017/18 for League Two Cheltenham Town, netting 25 goals in all competitions.

That attracted plenty of interest in the 24-year-old with Posh battling the likes of Bristol City for his signature. The Robins won the battle on that occasion but Peterborough look to have won the war and fans are confident he will find his goalscoring boots once again according to the latest odds.

Bristol Rovers have been given odds of 33/1 to win the title.
