Punters given chance to win a free pint at Nottingham's Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival

Punters have the chance to win a free pint at the city's iconic Robin Hood Beer & Cider Festival - by supporting local pubs.

Pubs displaying posters encouraging customers to drink locally are part of the promotion launched by real ale campaigners.

To win a free pint at this year's beer festival, which takes place over four days at the Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in October, punters need to visit eight different pubs involved in the campaign.

Steve Westby, Chairman of the Nottingham branch of the Campaign for Real Ale, said: “Local pubs and local breweries have experienced a very difficult time, and we feel that it is important to do all we can to help get them back on their feet and to avoid more pub closures. Our campaign is just one way of encouraging individuals to get back to the pub.”

More than 120 pubs have signed up to the Back to the Pub campaign and punters will also be entered into a raffle to win prizes.

The campaign runs throughout July and August.

Most legal coronavirus restrictions came to an end on Monday (July 19) in step four of the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

The festival takes place from Wednesday, October 13, to Sunday, October 16.
