Punters back Liverpool to win the Premier League with Newcastle United given surprising finish

Liverpool will win the Premier League for the first time in over two decades - while Steve Bruce's Newcastle will finish in the top six . . .

That is according to fans placing bets ahead of the 2019/20 season, with Ladbrokes revealing that 50% of outright bets placed so far are in favour of the Champions League winners.

The Reds competed in a thrilling title fight with City last term but ultimately missed out on a first league title since 1989, finishing just a single point behind Pep Guardiola's side.

However, after winning the Champions League final against Tottenham in Madrid last month, Liverpool are well placed to launch an assault next term and fans across the country are backing the Reds to be successful.

Unsurprisingly, City are backed to finish second behind Klopp's side, with Tottenham and Manchester United tipped to complete the top-four and secure a Champions League spot in the 2020/21 campaign.

That would leave Frank Lampard failing to achieve his main objective during his first season in charge at Chelsea, while Unai Emery's second term at Arsenal is backed to be disastrous - with the Gunners backed to finish seventh, behind Newcastle United.

Newly-promoted Aston Villa are tipped to finish eight, ahead of Leicester City and Wolves - the latter potentially suffering second-season syndrome after securing Europa League qualification in their maiden campaign back in the top-flight.

At the bottom of the pile, it is bad news for sides beginning with 'B' as Burnley, Brighton and Bournemouth are all seen as favourites for relegation, with Watford and Crystal Palace among those managing to stay afloat.
