Joe Farrell well fancied for the 2019 Grand National

Joe Farrell is into a 14/1 shot for the 2019 Grand National.

He was the final horse declared for the field of 40 in Saturday's Grand National at Aintree .

The Scottish National hero had looked like missing out as he sat in the first reserve position but the withdrawal of Pairofbrowneyes has seen him make the final cut.

Farrell, a 10-year-old gelding, trained by Rebecca Curtis in Pembrokeshire started Thursday as a 33/1 shot for the Aintree race but punters have been backing them.

Tiger Roll is a short-priced favourite at 5/1 as the George Elliott horse attempts to become the first back-to-back winner of the race since Red Rum in 1974.

Betway’s Alan Alger said: "Even though he needs two to come out to get a run, we’ve seen substantial support for Rebecca Curtis’ Joe Farrell in the Grand National betting.

"The 10-year-old has already shown his liking for these marathon staying chases having won last year’s Scottish National and he’s now 20/1 from 33/1.

"Tiger Roll is the one they all have to beat at 5/1 and we haven’t had a red-hot favourite like this for many years.
