Punter turns £20 into £75,000 after winning streak on the horses at odds of over 12,000-1

A punter turned £20 into £75,000 after an amazing run of success on the horses.

The William Hill customer banked the five-figure payout when all four selections in their bets won on Wednesday. Their two wagers were a £1 Lucky 15 and a £5 four-fold – which came in at odds of 12,284-1 .

The winning streak began with Tarhib's smooth performance in a sprint at Nottingham, where the 13-2 shot galloped two lengths ahead of the pack. Next to go was Bobalot (6-1) – and the grey hurdler relished the step up to nearly three miles over hurdles at Chepstow, looking the winner from some way out.

Jockey Neil Callan, who received a 12-day ban for riding his finish too early at Kempton, got the the third leg of the bet home.

Tenjin (12-1) was pushed out to hold the favourite Elegant Charm by half-a-length in the six-furlong nursery handicap. Then it was the turn of Nader to round off the night – and the 11-1 shot did not disappoint.

Despite being one of the longer-priced horses in the Unibet 3 Uniboosts A Day Handicap, Kieran O'Neill's mount made all the running to score by three-and-three quarter lengths.

The easy triumph sparked celebrations for the lucky punter, who collected £75,037.50, including £20,475 due to boosted odds from the bookmaker.

William Hill spokesperson Lee Phelps said: “Whether it was luck or judgement, you have to take your hat off to one of our customers who won over £75k on four horses on Wednesday from just £20.

“It would have been a nervous time waiting for the final leg, but they shouldn’t have worried as Nader won easily at Kempton, capping off the 12,284-1 bet.”

Another horse racing fan also won big when they scooped almost £58,000 earlier this week. However, the sum could have been six figures had they not cashed out before the final selection ran.

Credrojava was successful at Aintree and the total return on the Betfair wagers, a Lucky 31 and five-fold acca, was around £425,000. The outcome was called "heartbreaking" and "a sickener" in the comments online.
