Punjab: Water enters houses, roads turn craters in Zirakpur

MOHALI: In just two days of rainfall, most of the roads have become non-motorable and full of craters as deep as 12 inches in parts of Zirakpur.

At Shivalik Vihar, water entered houses. Jagdeep Kumar, a local resident, said, “The water was knee-deep in the lane opposite our houses.” Roads leading to Shivalik Vihar, Bhabat and Nagla village caved in at some points.

Rakesh Kumar, a local resident said, “We often pass by this road to farms and major portion of the road has caved in. There are no street lights as well.” Tall claims of Zirakpur municipal council of making the town ready to face the monsoon have fallen flat.
