Punjab: ‘Want every village to pitch tent on Delhi border’, says actress Sonia Mann

MEHAL KALAN: Speaking to farmers on the 24th death anniversary of a teenaged girl who was murdered after rape, actress Sonia Mann, a voice for the Delhi agitation, called for an ‘educate Punjab youth’ campaign "to save agriculture from getting corporatised" and promote "gender sensitivity". Sonia said: "The echo of the farmers’ struggle is being heard in many countries but getting fainter in Punjab. I want each of Punjab’s 13,000-odd villages to have at least one tent on the Delhi border agitation sites. Girls should not shy away. Be like Mai Bhago (the brave Sikh woman who fought the Mughals)." At the gathering in Mehal Kalan on Barnala-Ludhiana road on Thursday , SKM members dedicated her death anniversary to the ongoing farmers’ struggle and encouraged women to join it
