Punjab: Voters' responsibility to undo injustice done to Majithia, says Sukhbir Singh Badal

MAJITHA/AMRITSAR: SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal and brother-in-law of former Akali minister Bikram Singh Majithia claimed that the latter was allegedly implicated in the false case to prevent him from contesting the assembly elections.

Addressing a public gathering at Majitha, near Amritsar, Sukhbir claimed, "The aim of registering the case was to prevent Bikram Majithia from contesting the next elections. I appeal to the people of Majithia to defeat this conspiracy. It is now your responsibility to contest the injustice done to Bikram. I appeal to you to work hard now to elect Bikram with double the margin of votes than before."

Claiming that the SAD(B)-BSP alliance was cruising towards a clear victory with more than 80 seats, he said the people of Punjab had recognised the fact that the (SAD(B)-BSP) combined alone could safeguard their regional aspirations and would never hand over their mandate to outsiders controlled by forces in Delhi. "AAP will win only five seats in its supposed stronghold of Malwa. Congress will be totally obliterated," he added.

In Amritsar, the SAD president told media persons that the investigators in sacrilege incidents never went after the real culprits, he said even former IG Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, who had conducted probe, was more keen on his political future. Claiming that the Congress only wanted to use sacrilege issue to weaken the SAD(B), he said, "That is the reason I prayed today that not only should nothing remain in the lives of all those who politicised this sensitive issue but that nothing remains of them in the forthcoming assembly elections also."

Sukhbir's wife and Bathinda MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal said she had full faith in the divine justice. "I am sure that truth will come," she said.
