LUDHIANA: In the ongoing probe of the killing of famous Punjabi singer Shubhdeep Singh alias Sidhu Moose Wala, the Ludhiana city police nominated a USA based wanted criminal Darmanjot Singh Kahlon alias Darman Kahlon, 28, under charges of criminal conspiracy.
After nominating Kahlon, the city police on Saturday brought two shooters Mandeep Singh Toofan and Manpreet Singh Rayya on a production warrant from Goindwal central jail.
Toofan and Rayya were produced before a local court and the court sent them in five days remand in police custody.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police- Investigation Varinder Singh Brar said that shooters Toofan and Rayya were arrested by Punjab police in connection with the killing of Sidhu Moose Wala on September 16. The Ludhiana police on June 30 had arrested Satbir Singh of Amritsar with an illegal weapon and his Toyota Fortuner SUV which he had used in dropping Rayyan, Toofan and a dismissed cop Gurmeet Singh to Bathinda along with weapons, 10 days before Moose Wala was killed.
During the probe of this case, the police found that Darmanjot Khalon, a co-accused of Toofan in a previous case, had given him directions to complete a task for dreaded gangster Goldy Brar.
“Mandeep Toofan and Darman Kahlon had helped an accused flee from police custody in Batala in 2017. They are known to each other even before that. The investigation revealed that Darman Kahlon, who is close to Goldy Brar, had asked Toofan to get the work of Goldy Brar done. Thereafter, Toofan had roped in Rayyan also in this task. Toofan and Rayya were already close to gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and Jaggu meanwhile had asked his friend Snadeep Kahlon, of Amritsar to arrange transportation of Toofan, Rayyan and ex-cop Gurmeet Singh to Bathinda with weapons. Thereafter Sandeep sought help from his friend Satbir Singh and asked him to drop the trio to Bathinda. Besides Satbir, Sandeep Kahlon has also been arrested by the Ludhiana police” added Brar.
Further, in-charge CIA-II of Ludhiana police commissionerate Inspector Beant Juneja said: "Darman Kahlon has been nominated in the case for criminal conspiracy. He is already wanted as he was booked by SSOC (State Special Operation Cell) for supplying at least 42 armed weapons in the state. However Darman managed to escape to the USA. Both Rayya and Toffan would be questioned about the role of Darman".
Rayya, Toofan and Gurmeet were a part of plan A to kill Moose Wala
Mandeep Toofan, Manpreet Rayya, Gurmeet Singh, were among those shooters who had reached Bathinda on May 19 to kill Moose Wala. Gurmeet had also arranged two cops’ uniforms, however they needed a total of nine. They had tried to search for cop’s uniforms in Bathinda to execute their plan, but failed to get uniforms. Besides, the accused had done recce of Moose Wala’s house and returned due to the high security cover.
