Punjab School Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla on Friday said following conditional approval from the State government, all government, aided and private schools were set to reopen for Classes 1 and 2, and pre-primary classes from February 1.
He said as the parents had firmly supported the decision of the State government to reopen schools, he had directed Education Department officials and school managements to strictly comply with the COVID-19 safety guidelines issued by the government.
Mr. Singla said the schools had been asked to prepare special seating plans keeping physical distancing in mind, apart from complying with other measures, including masks and handwashing on regular intervals.
Schools for Classes 3 to 12 have already reopened in a phased manner and teams had been regularly visiting them to keep any eye on safety norms and guidelines, he added.
